Uncle’s Old Times

Rating: 8/10 Point-and-Click, All Ages

The point-and-click game is one of my favorite genres. They seldom require downloads, are often short, and usually have just enough challenge to make them fun. However, one big downside to point-and-clicks is the pixel hunting, (when you have to click a specific pixel in order to advance in the game), that comes with them. Game author Minoto does away with this problem completely. Minoto’s games are short, fun, and often random in nature. The soft colors and ages are soothing, and the walk-throughs are often placed just below the game, so when your real world logic gets in the way, you can see the ridiculous solution. Add in a healthy dose of Engrish, and you’ve got quite a game. The games themselves are hard to describe; they are an experience in and of themselves. Maybe the best way to explain the utter randomness of this game is in the author’s own description of the goal:

”The uncle who was able to collect the forgotten thing was relieved.”

Vague, but accurate.
